As part of Gambia’s national objectives for rural electrification, this UNIDO sponsored project set to develop a market environment for investment into renewable energy based mini-grids.
Key objectives of the project were to:
- Determine the techno-economic viability of renewable energy mini-grids in rural areas
- Promote investments in renewable energy mini-grids in rural areas
- Strengthen the legal and regulatory framework for renewable energy in Gambia
- And reinforce the Gambian institutional capacity
To deliver the project objectives, ITP India conducted a thorough analysis of the Gambian Energy Sector, alongside the following services:
- Identification of pilot projects
- Pre-feasibility assessment of pilot projects
- Identification of financing sources
- Definition of the project strategy
- Compilation of the project document
