Akanksha Chaurey

Dr. Akanksha Chaurey is an expert on renewable energy technologies and markets and has led several projects dealing with technology assessment, market analysis, development of business models, capacity building, etc. She has over 29 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and specializes in decentralised and distributed generation. She has worked in more than 20 countries. Akanksha completed her graduation in Physics from St. Stephens College, Delhi and then pursued her M.Sc. in Physics and M. Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India. In 2011, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree by IIT Delhi for her Thesis on “Assessment and evaluation of Photovoltaic systems for rural lighting in India”.

Before joining ITPI in March 2012, she was working with TERI, India as Director for Decentralised Electricity Solutions Division. She is a lifetime member of the Solar Energy Society of India and has been serving several expert committees and task forces on solar energy and distributed generation. Akanksha is a guest lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland and at The Vedica Scholars Programme for Women (VSPW), New Delhi. She is also on the governing body of Sshrishti India Trust, a Delhi based non-governmental, not-for-profit organization.
