Ecosystem for offshore wind development in India (2013-2015) funded by British High Commission

The objective of this assignment was to create a holistic understanding of the enabling environment required for the incubation and growth of the offshore wind sector in India. It aimed at identifying the national and state governments’ potential roles/actions in offshore wind development. ITPI under this assignment- (i) Created a detailed report titled ‘Status and prospects of the offshore wind sector in India’ providing inputs to the GoI’s offshore wind policy being prepared by MNRE; (ii) Created ‘Roadmap for developing an offshore wind ecosystem in India’ to catalyse the transition towards large scale offshore wind development; (iii) Web portal for offshore wind was also created for widespread dissemination of knowledge in this sector; (iv) Organised a B2B meeting in the UK, and (v) Provided support in developing a pilot and devising incentives for the same and the sector including structuring of National Offshore Wind Energy Agency.
